Blepharoplasty is the surgery of drooping or bags  under the eyes. It can be carried out under local anesthetic or under an ambulatory neuroleptic anagesia. An assessment of vision is usually carried out and the advice of an phtalmologist can be sought to avoid any contraindications ( dry eye syndrom, ptosis, exophtalmia ).

 After 2 consultations a decision to operate is taken. The design of excision is made on the operating table with the patient sitting. The intervention is painless thanks to an injection of a local anesthetic. The excess skin is removed at the same time as excess muscle.

The bags under the eyes are coagulated or removed sparingly depending on the auto-nomy, stitching is done under the skin and is removed after 8 days.

 Post-operative recovery is never painful though bruises are present for 5- 8 days .

In lower eyelids the scar is hidden in the eye if there is no excess skin . The intervention lasts around 1 hour for both eyelids.

Recovery is very rarely complicated ( ptosis, badly closing eyes ) apart from bruising.
